ContigoU
Who would you call if you were sick, in the hospital, and the hospital asks you to leave prematurely while you were still in need of care?
Experienced RN nurse & veteran Renee Donnelly would say, ContigoU, also the founder & CEO.

Who would you call if you were sick, in the hospital, and the hospital asks you to leave prematurely while you were still in need of care?
Too many patients in the US are being discharged prematurely due to shortages of beds in hospitals while the only care-giving institutions, nursing homes remain empty.
ContigoU collects data on all these manually run nursing rehabs to allow patients to access reviews, bed availability schedules, and transparent pricing along with a convenient booking facility.
After bootstrapping this whole project for years, out of her own savings. They needed to raise capital to build & grow faster. And Fidle was tasked to design an investor presentation for ContigoU.
How it all started
The first call
Two years back Renee dropped a LinkedIn in-mail around Christmas, that she needed to improve her presentation & pitch deck.
We quickly set up a virtual discovery call.
In which,
She showed me all the pitch decks she had created using online tools, automated pitch builders & tools.
The primary problem we identified during our initial conversation was that her pitch decks were looking decent but they were content-heavy, and could not tell the story of Renne.
10 to 14 days is a bare minimum for a pre-seed or seed business SaaS business.
For asset-heavy, complex tech, large teams, revenue/data, etc it takes even more time.
Though here we wanted to create a simple, dynamic set of multiple-use pitch decks for her in a single go.

Presentations to be prepared
Personal Pitch Pro
Designed for in-person meetings, conferences, and demo days, the presentation deck prioritizes visual impact while conveying key messages concisely.
Insightmail
Tailored for follow-ups and email outreach, the email decks provide a more detailed version of the presentation. It includes an appendix section with multiple market insights to enhance the reader's understanding.
Process
Things started with - Discovery message.
Part 1
Preparing a custom project plan according to the project’s needs & founders’ availability :
Time frame planned for final delivery — 14 days.
7 meetings were scheduled during the development process from our end, other short meetings were to be scheduled if needed or requested by the founder.
Part 2
→First 3 days are dedicated to research :
- Renee had years of hands-on experience with patients who are ideal clients of ContigoU thus we started our journey by setting up 2–3 meetings to listen to Renee’s own interaction with patients & how she was solving the problem manually before the developing product.
- Then we were set to deeply study the healthcare & nursing rehabs in the USA, especially California where the product is initially launched.
- Investor landscape for the health-tech & SaasS business at that time.
- Patients' journey in a typical healthcare system.
- The product.
- Studying already created pitch decks, data, stats & material about it.
As Renne has very vast experiences in this field, there were multiple obvious reasons to be building this at this time, some reasons were
Very personal,
Some very logical,
Some heart-wreaking stories &
Then there were clear gaps in the system.
Challenge
For us challenge turned out to be leaving behind some of the really wonderful stories behind, her own journey, progress, and the challenges she faced till now.
To clearly articulate the “WHY” behind this project while leaving rest for open-ended conversations during the meetings.
→ Days 4 & 7: Sorting the story flow, structuring & sorting the content, design concepts & moodboard.
Once the research was done & sound.
We were clearly able to see the big picture & then it became easy to pull everything into a cohesive flow.
As this was a little rush project we did content & design almost together.
The biggest challenge turned out to be.
Developing design concepts that clearly and simply tell the story of contigoU while bringing in Renee & contigoU’s empathetic style of leadership.
Once we sorted out the content, prepared a good slide structure.
We set out to prepare, a mood board inspired by real incidents, interactions stories & brand style.
Based on this we finalized
- Color palette & a systemic blend.
- Typography.
- Style.
Followed by a few story concepts.
We have decided to depict a scene from within hospitals where Renee before building contigoU used to go beyond her duty to help & inform patients about empty beds in nursing rehabs.

followed by the sequence of stories of how with ContigoU the impact can be much greater for so many more people than just a handful of few who came in contact with Renee.
We presented them to Renee.
First, we saw an expression of relief on her face which then was followed by excitement.
(The greatest reward for us.)
→ Day 8 to 12:
Bringing the rest of the story flow to life.
Though we generally advise avoiding animations in the presentations for a few startups or cases we do make exceptions, ContigoU was one of them.
As we needed the audience to see & understand how exactly this works, & how it can be monetized as the founder struggled with this before too.
We handcrafted two presentations for the founders' convenience.
1. PersonalPitch
Crafted to support the founder’s communication style, personality, work, and experience to hold them firm during
Demo days: There won’t be many, thus the only conversation you want to be doing after the presentation, backstage is about the business and not spending time explaining the concept or idea.
Startup events and conferences:Where you want to stand out, be remembered among other startups, and be contacted back.
In-person investor meetings:Where the founder needs everything from stories to data to work in their favor while being 100% authentic and honest.
2. Insightmails
A presentation version without animations, which can easily be shared as a pdf.
A self-explanatory more content-heavy version of the presentation that can stand on its own without the founder walking them through the deck.
Crafted for self-paced reading during flights, in-office reading sessions, and email forwards to the due-diligence team or other investors who might not have heard your pitch or met you before.
3. Extra slides for customizations
We understand that in the future Renee & the team might need to add some extra slides to customize deck information according to the different investor profiles & thesis.

Thus we crafted some extra slides based on the pre-set theme which were ready to use and easy to pull (directly embedded in the presentation itself for quick & easy usage. )
→ Day 13:
Final presentations & story review with Renee
Upon confirmation final files were sent to Renee for her upcoming pitch event.
